Master Xu ShiXi(徐世熙) is a internationally recognized martial artist who is well known for his Combat skills in Beijing, China. Master Xu was born in Beijing, 1942. His father was a doctor who specialized in traditional Chinese medicine. Master Xu first started training in Baguazhang when he was 13 years old, under the tutelage of Master Zhang Qing-Lian (張慶廉) - who was a student of Li Bao-Sen(李寶森)(A famous student of Master Yin Fu in Beijing). Master Zhang Qing-Lian was a famous martial artist who won the championship in Beijing Martial Arts, ranking third in Nanjing at China’s 1936 National Martial Arts Sparring Competition (an open martial arts competition in its true sense, such that there were no weight divisions, style restrictions or safety rules). Master Zhang Qing-Lian(張慶廉) became Master Xu’s father in law after he married his daughter . Master Xu learnt the complete system of Yin style Bagua Zhang and started teaching when he was 30 years old. Tai Chi was the second martial arts system that master Xu studied. At the end of the 1950s, Master Xu learnt the Yang Style Tai Chi 88 form. During the the early 1960s, Master Xu started learning Chen style Tai Chi under Chen Zhao-Kui(陳照奎)( Grandmaster Chen was a Well known Chen-style Tai Chi Master and famous for his joint locking skills). Unfortunately, Great master Chen Zhao-Kui(陳照奎) had to leave Beijing at the beginning of the Cultural Revolution. During the Cultural Revolution, Master Xu did not stop practicing his martial arts, even though the Communist Red Guard threatened him to stop. This was because he wanted to continue the Chinese traditional culture to avoid it being lost in the Cultural Revolution. After the Cultural Revolution, He started learning under Tian Xiu-Chen(田秀臣) who is one of Chen Fa-Ke’s(陳發科)(a well-known Chen-style Tai Chi Master and father of Grandmaster Chen Zhaoku(陳照奎) famous disciple. After a few years, Master Xu was recommended by Master Tian to learn from Master Fung Zhi-Qiang(馮志強)(well-known Chen-style Tai Chi Master). As a result, Master Xu has a good knowledge in the Chen style Tai Chi.

Recently, Master Xu became a well-known international martial artist after various television channels from America, France, Russia and CCTV interviewed him. Other domestic television stations also invited him to teach his regimen. In China, 2006, he was invited to teach at the Chinese Police Special Forces and later designed their training syllabus. In 2005,Wudang Chief Taoist Yu Xuan-De(游玄德) had given Master Xu a Taoist Name “Gui Zhen Zi”( 歸真子) and Master Xu was invited to promote Wudang Kung Fu. In 2007 Master Xu also invited to attend and perform in the International Wudang martial arts Meeting. In 2008, Master Xu published his first martial arts (Grappling and wrestling) instruction DVD Series in China. Master Xu established the Tianxiaxi International Wushu Exchange Center in August,2009.

From 2002 to 2004, two students of Master Xu won the championships at men's art of combating Competition respectively in the USA. In 2008 four students of Master Xu attended the Netherlands Tai Chi Chuan Tuishou Competition and ranked men's first and third, women's third. Also, two of his Dutch students performed his innovative Chen-style fashionable 24-style Taijiquan and ranked second and third respectively.

Master Xu ShiXi Sydney Workshop
Master Xu ShiXi will visit Sydney in November and will hold a few workshops between 7/11 -17/11. It is a good opportunity to learning practical Tai Chi, Yin Style Bagua, Qi Gong, Chin Na and throwing Skill.

This workshop is open for all martial arts practitioners or beginners who are interested in self defense and grappling skills. In this intensive Workshop, Master Xu will show all students traditional Chinese grappling & throwing skills and how to use these skills effectively. These Skills include: 1. How to lock your opponent’s fingers, wrist joint and elbow. 2. against the grappling skill 3. Throwing your opponent to the ground by utilizing all parts of your body.

Yin Style Bagua Zhang is one of the rare and mystical martial arts systems in China. The Founder of the system is Yin Fu Who was a Bodyguard of Imperial noble in Beijing and disciple of Dong Haichuan. This system is famous with their effective combat skill and rapid attack skill. Recently, it is hard to find a Yin style Bagua Master in Australia. In this intensive workshop, Student will learn the basic stepping, 8 basic palm postures, walking meditation, basic partner drills and applications.

Theme: Practical Tai chi and how to use tai chi for combat
Time: 10am-4pm(Including one hour lunch time)
Where: Parramatta (Location will be confirmed later)
This workshop will teach the students how to develop combat skill from their Taichi training. Master Xu will teach his Chen Style 24 form Taichi and its application. Some partner drills and basic training will be taught.

Theme: Self Defense skills and Qi gong exercise
Time: 6:30pm~8:30pm

This seminar will teach student some self defense skills and how to do some Qi gong exercise for keeping healthy. Master Xu is able to use his traditional Chinese medicine background knowledge to explain what the Qi gong benefit is and how to use it for treatment. Student will understand how this is related to Taoist martial arts.

Master Xu Shi Xi Sydney workshop


Beijing based Master Xu ShiXi will visit Sydney in November and conduct a few intensive hands on workshops between 7 Nov 2009 - 17 Nov 2009. This is a good opportunity to learn practical Chen Style Tai Chi and practical Yin Style Bagua, Qi Gong, Chin Na/ Qinna and throwing Skill.

Theme: Yin Style Bagua - basic level

Yin Style Bagua Zhang is one of the rarest and more mystical martial arts systems in China. The founder of the system is Yin Fu, a Imperial bodyguard in Beijing and the first disciple of Dong Haichuan. This system is known for their effective combat skill and characteristic rapid attack. It is hard to find a Yin style Bagua Master in Australia.

In this intensive workshop, Student will learn the basic stepping, 8 basic palm postures, walking meditation, basic partner drills and applications.





Date: 14/11 Saturday
Theme: Practical Tai chi and combat applications

This workshop will teach students how to develop combat skill from their Tai chi training. Master Xu will teach Chen Style 24 form Taichi and its martial application. Some partner drills and basic training will be included.

Date: 15/11 Sunday
Theme: Yin Style Bagua – advance level


Date: 10/11 Tuesday and 17/11 Tuesday
Theme: Self Defense skills and Qi gong exercise

This seminar will teach student practical self defense skills and Qi gong exercise for health maintenance. Master Xu uses his traditional Chinese medicine background to explain the benefits of Qi gong and how it is used in medical treatment. Student will understand how this is relates to Taoist martial arts.
