Sensei Michael D'Arcy is holding a Martial Art Open Party in Daceyville (Near Anzac pde)

Hi All,
One of my SPM students, Sensei Michael D'Arcy is holding a party to celebrate 25 years of teaching Martial Arts to the public, this is a gathering of his past and present teachers in various martial arts, and most importantly his present and past students (which are in the thousands due to his primary and high school PDHPE programme).

Sifu John Summerville and I will be present at the event, if you guys are interested, please contact Sifu John Summerville for more details (Gordon, you have John Sifu's number don't you?).

Today it was nice day, with many people from different martial arts disciple. Sifu John Summerville also encourage me and Bjoern do a short Kali Knife performance in the day.

And also, we appreciate Mr. Bo Sim Sau and the fellow Chin Woo committee for the explanation on some techniques, and having a good time with all other new fds we met.

John 兄你太過獎了,我一直對一些在抗擊的功夫方面有熱心,所以順道想試多些不同的打擊（可能我在寢技方面的操練,在受身著地上浸了不少記憶,所以身體對承受衝擊沒有太大過敏）,我還需要加強體格才行~~~!謝謝~~!

想番以前系我師傅武館練野時，真系幾難涯架，信唔信我在22歲時，個身形體格同你差唔多，依家同你班後生玩真系有點老O既感覺。
中國功夫真系唔簡單架，我同BJJ D高手十年前亦玩過野，如果中國功夫系沒料到，SENSEI MICHAEL就唔會黎學野啦。好似RAYMOND哥耍套劍同棍0既功價，系我眼中已經超值啦！我地真系練武O既人，唔系打KEYBOARD齋TALK，打出黎千奇唔好姐手姐腳，套路好看只系少部分，功底系最重要的，我秤價系90% 功10%武，真功夫需要時間練出黎架。當你去到一個景界，自己就知自己事，D手法似鋒利0既刀一樣，一系唔出手，如果真系被逼出手，自己要接受後果，所以唔可以亂0羅出黎玩。

My name is Shingo who used to practise Chow Gar mantis in NZ before I came over to Sydney.

My master's name is Alastair Bourne who learnt Chow Gar in New Zealand under Yew Tong Kwong (don't know the Chinese letters ) who was apparently one of the students of Ip Shui.

However, I had difficulty in the style, because my master mixed Chow Gar with other South East Asian style (close to Silat) and he retired when I was learning the style for 10 years in NZ. Therefore, the style I learnt under his senior students was clearly diluted as I can see the forms we did was restructured and the distinctive Chow Gar inch power is missing compared to the ones I see on YouTube. I am feeling really sad about the occurrence of the off-style in the old club.

So, I have been looking for Chow Gar masters in Sydney for over three years now.

Would it be possible for me to have an opportunity to introduce myself to you in person some time in near future?

你O地當日試到我同埋細佬既雙橋就系多年大家對不同O既樁和差手，功架馬步系重要，但其他功底例如爪力，疊骨功，四版力，驚彈勁，搖勁，暗勁，三氣勁系唔可以少架。正系打套路唔會得到完全0既力勁，但系可以增加肌肉質調，馬步穩定，氣調自如，伸縮功等等。
真螳螂力勁行外人唔系容易可以看到或理解，但系當被打時會感到力勁傳入肉入骨，例如絞錘樁，批手樁等等。所以本人對打套路看法系唔同架，有D 人打得好看未必有內勁。因為缺少上述D重要0野。

Firstly, thanks for your info about your Master and his school in NZ, I have actually met your Si-Hing Croydan a few year back, he came to my school wanting to learn the neck gong, and also shown me some of his forms and we had a good chat. I found him very sincere and a good bloke. BTW if you see him again, please give my regards to him.
In regard to Sifu Alastair Bourne, I also heard stories that he is a very proficient martial artist both on the streets as well as in the old schools. Having said that, he must have reasons why he had mixed the two systems together to develop his own system, therefore I am not in the position to comment whether certain practices are good or bad.
As you probably aware that I have different views about the practice of martial arts and especially Gung Fu, therefore I may not be agreed (or go down well) with many X and Y generations.
Having said that, if you are currently is training under a regular teacher, I suggest you consult him about your wishes to seek another teacher to guide you through on a different path, this is very important as it is the respect that a teacher deserve.
Currently, I am very busy with my work in Sydney and Singapore, and if opportunity presents itself, I am happy to discuss it further.

Yes, I know Croydon well. I remember he mentioned you under the different name. He was teaching in another club when I was in NZ. I talked to him on the phone about three months ago. He said he was going to take responsibility for the club, because other senior students have all gone.

Since I am not in a position to ask Master Alastair about the modificaiton of the style, I would rather explore the genuine Chow Gar and search for the truth by myself. That's the reason why I am looking for Chow Gar masters. To be politically correct, my intention behind this is not about the superiority or inferiority of the style I learnt, it is purely my curiosity. Curiosity is my driving force in my life as being a Scientist.

I greatly appreciate your consideration on being respectful to my current master. I have no intention to be disrespectful to my Sifu who is a very nice person. I purely thought you own a Chow Gar mantis club and I could visit you and have a chat to start with.

Well, I am looking forward to meeting you in person some time in future.

Yes, I had a large Chow Gar club a few years back, but due to on-going business and family commitments, I was not able to commit myself 100% totally of running the classes. Therefore most of my senior students have started their own training gatherings at their houses which I encouraged and supported. Due to the fact that they have all grown up with family now, so sometime it’s hard to set a regular time table to train and revise the training, however we do get together for a drink now and then.
It was only recently that I started teaching again at my home, this is mainly to my close friend’s children at their parent’s request …………well…….. Come to think of it, they are not kids anymore but now young adults in their 20s. As you probably aware that SPM needs constantly guidance in the early years through two man exercises to develop the correct foundation of the style, therefore for me to take on new students, I need to contemplate of my own time management as well as other factors.

Yes, I totally understand your situation. I am actually working 7 days a week trying to finish up the PhD thesis research and I am always running against the clock.

So, we will meet each other when the time comes.
